The Male Survivors of Sexual Abuse Trust was incorporated, under the Charitable Trusts Act 1957, on the 24th of March 1997. The trust evolved from a monthly support group started in 1991 after a client asked his therapist how he could meet other men who had suffered similar traumatic experiences to him when they were children. The Trust has evolved from those early meetings to a position where it now employs a full time manager and a part-time administration assistant. MSSAT offers their clients confidential, one-to-one support, peer support, group meetings, workshops, retreats and an introduction to ACC approved counsellors and therapists. MSSAT is actively involved with community and government groups in the areas of education, prevention, treatment and other matters relating to the sexual abuse of males. The work undertaken would not be possible without the ongoing assistance from many funding agencies, a full list of benefactors appears elsewhere on this site.
